Google Desktop iss ownage compared to window's built-in search, but to get the most out of your searches, you need to tweak a couple of settings.
1.) under the options menu, make sure that HTTPS is unchecked to prevent google from indexing sensitive data. 2.) click "Add drive folder to search" and add any networked PC's so you can search for files across your network without ever leaving your seat. 3.) Finally Install TweakGDS plugin, which will let you designatea different folder or hard drive to store googles indexing information. dowloads: Google Desktop : Google Desktop Download TweakGDS: Google Gadgets:* TweakGDS BTW, both of these are free to download
