What is Angry IP Scanner? Angry IP Scanner (or simply ipscan) is an open-source and cross-platform network scanner designed to be fast and simple to use. It scans IP addresses and ports as well as has many other features. News 2007-12-17 - New public site for Angry IP Scanner Angry IP Scanner now has a new public web site based on MediaWiki! The new site should be more informative, easier to modify, and allow writing of FAQ and help pages by any registered users. It should look good in standards-based browsers (Firefox, Safari, IE7). As IE6 has buggy CSS support and its share is dropping, not much effort has been put to support it. Please report any problems you may experience with the new site! Old site is still accessible at http://www.angryziber.com/old/ 2007-08-17 - Petition to anti-virus software vendors An online petition has been created addressed to anti-virus software vendors (currently Symantec and McAfee) against adding Angry IP Scanner to their databases. All users of Angry IP Scanner, please help letting them know that you don't need ipscan.exe to be automatically removed from your computers! http://www.petitiononline.com/angryip/petition.html 2007-07-26 - Preview build of version 3.0 is available Linux and Windows builds of Angry IP Scanner 3.0-alpha1 have been uploaded to Sourceforge. Retrieved from "http://www.angryziber.com/w/Download About Angry IP scanner is a very fast IP address and port scanner. It can scan IP addresses in any range as well as any their ports. It is cross-platform and lightweight. Not requiring any installations, it can be freely copied and used anywhere. Angry IP scanner simply pings each IP address to check if it's alive, then optionally it is resolving its hostname, determines the MAC address, scans ports, etc. The amount of gathered data about each host can be extended with plugins. It also has additional features, like NetBIOS information (computer name, workgroup name, and currently logged in Windows user), favorite IP address ranges, web server detection, customizable openers, etc. Scanning results can be saved to CSV, TXT, XML or IP-Port list files. With help of plugins, Angry IP Scanner can gather any information about scanned IPs. Anybody who can write Java code is able to write plugins and extend functionality of Angry IP Scanner. In order to increase scanning speed, it uses multithreaded approach: a separate scanning thread is created for each scanned IP address. The full source code is available, see Download page. Contents
Is the scanning of computer networks dangerous? - the presentation from the Baltic DB & IS 2008 conference. License Angry IP Scanner is free and open-source software, so use it at your own risk. The license is GPLv2. Author The program is written and maintained by Anton Keks. Notice This program is mostly useful for network administrators to monitor and manage their networks. For more information about IP and port scanning in general, you can see the corresponding article on Wikipedia. Please note that while theoretically Angry IP Scanner can be used by crackers, in fact it was not intended for doing so, thus the lack of stealth scanning methods. Please do not consider Angry IP Scanner as a 'hacktool' or something similar. Retrieved from "http://www.angryziber.com/w/About"
